Autumn is spoiling us with its colourful nature, and the weather forecast for the upcoming days is great. Warm and sunny. It's really calling us to spend time outside in nature. The highest peaks are already covered in snow, but there's plenty to discover below them. A real autumn fairytale. Below, you'll find five ideas for routes where you can go for a trail run or hike.
Autumn poker of Bohinj alpine pastures
Gorgeous round-trip crossing of scenic Bohinj alpine pastures. The better half of the route goes through golden larch forest. It's simple enough that you can use it for a family hike.
Giro di Kokoš
Round trip from Lipica, crossing the Kras landscape with stunning views towards the Gulf of Trieste. Compared to Bohinj's alpine pastures, here you'll find the red colour. At Kokoš, you'll find a hut where you can stop for lunch. I suggest that you also visit the Studfarm Lipica.
Slavnik (roundtrip)
This classic never disappoints. Gorgeous views towards the sea and Kraški rob. At the top, there's a hut where you can warm your frozen limbs if Burja is blowing.
Kranjska gora - Zelenci - Planica
This trail is a great choice when you're trying to avoid overcomplication while still being part of mountain scenery. Or when you're a bit short on your weekly training load and you'd like to solve that by running along with your kids on bikes. You can grab a coffee in the Nordijski center in Planica. You can also climb to the top of the largest ski jumping hill in the world.
Lucija - Piran
If you're feeling more like heading towards the seaside than the mountains, go for this one. You'll be running literally next to the sea. It's also great for running while your kids are riding their bikes. You can make a stop at the playground in Lucija, where you'll also find street workout.
One for the road
Don't forget the days are already quite short. Also, the daily temperature differences can be significant. Before you decide to go, make sure to check the weather forecast and actual conditions. Hope we meet somewhere!
