Skuta - Grintavec
From time to time, you decide that you want more than just another trail run. You want to have a proper mountaineering experience. Something with crawling, cables, and pegs. This roundtrip route is made specifically for such occasions. Although it requires perfect concentration at all times, it rewards you with mountaineering delights. Even in the high season, you won't encounter many people. But you might encounter ibexes. They are frequently lying on grass patches above the bivouac called Bivak pod Skuto. It's one of the most beautiful ones in Slovenia. Bear in mind that it's truly just a shelter. You can't get any water or food there.
Hit this route only if you have serious mountaineering experience, as there are many very exposed parts! Make sure to wear a helmet!
Parking is free - to get there, you'll need to follow a dirt road that's a bit bumpy from time to time.
Warnings
This is an exposed mountaineering route. Previous experience is required. You must be sure-footed and free from vertigo!
Protective gear
- Climbing helmet
- Ferrata kit (optional, as there are only a few cables; the rest are pegs)
